Nomination details

Nominations for both the Friday and Saturday meetings at Wentworth Park close Tuesday prior at 9 am. Trainers are advised that even though both meetings close at the same time, the Saturday meeting will be drawn prior to the Friday meeting. Trainers are able to nominate for Saturday and “roll over” to Friday, that is, if greyhounds do not gain a start on Saturday, they can be considered for Friday.

Box Draw

The box draw is conducted by the GRNSW following close of nominations. Box draw is typically released Tuesday afternoons following grading and can be found on this website, under racing info tab, or alternatively at www.wentworthpark.com.au or www.thedogs.com.au

Scratchings

Scratchings are taken by GRNSW on 1300 797 538. Phone between 8am and 10:00am daily. DEADLINE FOR SCRATCHINGS 9.00am the day of the race meeting. Scratchings that are faxed WILL NOT be accepted.

Kenneling & Kennels

Kennels There is a veterinary service available at all race meetings. The Kennel block is air-conditioned and the kennels are on one level.

Swabs

Wentworth Park follow GRNSW swabbing procedures and withholds prizemoney greater than $5830 when swabs are undertaken. Prizemoney is paid following clearance of swab sample.

Trials

The Friday sessions are for ordinary trials but not arm trials, and are open to all trainers irrespective of whether they have a runner at the meeting.  

It is confirmed that trials will still be available after Saturday night meetings, limited as before to those trainers who have a runner in the meeting. Some changes to the booking procedure for these Saturday night trials have been made as stated below:

On the night, if they want to trial, trainers are requested to advise the Weights Clerk  when weighing in their race dog/s and then to purchase their trial ticket at the Race Night Office early on  in the night when collecting their unplaced prize money. The Saturday night trials are conducted over 520 and 720m only and are field trials only.

Use of Own Skins on Arm: Participants may bring their own skins for arm trials provided that the skins are brought to the track cleaned of all meat and blood. The skin must be shown to and approved by the trial supervisor. Use of own squeaker may be permitted also, but the approval of the Trials Supervisor must similarly be sought first.

Admission

Entry to Wentworth Park race meetings for Adults is $6.00. Children under 18 are free when accompanied by an adult.

Parking

Parking is available adjacent to the grounds - entrance off Wentworth Park Road. . Parking fee of $12 applies. (GOBTA members free in this area on production of membership card). GBOTA also have an initative for race night trainers to park internally via Wattle St gate. Parking fee GBOTA members $5, including admission of two people. For non-GBOTA members $10, including admission for two people.

Safety of Users- Owners and trainers and patrons should note enhanced car parking arrangements have commenced at the car park in Wentworth Park Road.

A number of car spaces have been set aside close to the exit and the security guards on each race night. These spaces are available, particularly for people who are engaged in the later races or who are by  themselves. The GBOTA has taken this step to provide a safer environment, particularly for women and aged users of the car park.

If anyone who uses the car park feels anxious about leaving the track, the security guards are available to escort them to their vehicles. If you wish this to happen, please approach the guards directly when you leave the track and they will provide this service.

These arrangements are a slight change from the previous parking protocol and owners and trainers are asked to please assist towards the providing of this service, by adhering to the security guards' requests when they enter the parking area.

Driving

Wentworth Park provides the following driving suggestions. No responsability is taken for traffic or tolls enroute. Please use GPS or other devices if concerned. 

From Sydney's West
There are two roads you can travel on:- 1) Parramatta Road - follow the road all the way to the city past Sydney University (on the right) and take the left-hand turn into Wattle Street (just past Broadway Shopping Centre). Turn left at the end of the street and first left into Wentworth Park Road. 2) Follow Victoria Road and stay on the left hand lane over ANZAC Bridge. Once over the bridge take the Fish Market Exit and turn right at the main set of traffic lights. Once past the Fish Markets (on the right) take the second left into Wentworth Park Road.

From Central and Northern Coasts
Follow the F3 and take the City Exit. Follow the Pacific Highway to the Harbour Bridge. Once on the Harbour Bridge take the York Street Exit and turn left at King Street then right into George Street. George Street joins up with Broadway. Turn right on Broadway into Wattle Street and left at Wentworth Park Road.

From Southern Highlands and Southern Coasts
Follow General Holmes Drive which joins onto Southern Cross Drive. Keep left and use left-hand lane to link with South Dowling Street. Turn left into Cleveland Street then right into Abercrombie Street and left into Wentworth Park Road. 

Public Transport

Wentworth Park is only a 5 - minute walk from the closest station Taxi - If you are taking a taxi to the track ask to be dropped off at Wentworth Park Road (the main Entrance)

General Information

Feature Races 

Wentworth Park hosts 15 Group events each calendar year, with a feature event every month except February. Wentworth Park's headline event being the World's Richest Greyhound race, The Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg. Further deatils on each of the events can be found here.

Catering & Bar

Wentworth Park provides diverse choices within the venue. There is the snack bar on the ground floor and there are take away stalls on the concourse leading from the grandstand. There are fully licensed bars on the ground floor. The Bistro on the lower ground floor provides patrons the opportunity to order from an extensive menu, with meals cooked to order, and delivered to your table, with Bar facilities in the Bistro. For a more formal occasion we have our fully catered function centre located on the first floor of the complex – further details are available here.

Wagering

Wentworth Park GBOTA currently has up to four Bookmakers operating on Fridays and Saturdays with full TAB Totalisator services on Bistro, Ground and Level 1 (depending on demand).

Any bookmaker offering odds against a greyhound shall be compelled to lay such odds if demanded by the taker, but so that the bookmaker shall not be compelled to lose more than $1500 on any one wager.

Smoking

All enclosed areas including the Betting Ring are "SMOKE FREE ZONES". Smoking is allowed in open-air areas including the stands.

Eftpos

Wentworth Park GBOTA has an EFTPOS service located on the Ground Floor in the grandstand. Inquire at the appropriately marked TOTE window.

There are no camping facilities for travelling trainers, nor are there kennels available for the greyhounds.
