Nomination details

Public holidays can affect nomination closing times:  Amended nominations closing times apply around various public holidays and trainers should carefully check GRNSW notifications which are issued from time to time.

From July 2015 Wentworth Park race days changed to Wednesday and Saturdays

Nominations for Wednesday meetings close at 9 am the Monday prior and for Saturday meetings at 9 am the Tuesday prior.  Trainers are able to nominate for Wednesday and “roll over” to Saturday OR nominate twice if they wish to be considered for both meetings.

Box Draw

The box draw is conducted by the GRNSW following close of nominations. Box draw is typically released Monday and Tuesday afternoons respectively following grading and can be found on this website, under racing info tab, or alternatively at www.wentworthpark.com.au or www.thedogs.com.au

Scratchings

Scratchings are taken by GRNSW on 1300 797 538 call between 8am and 4pm Mon - Fri and 8am and 10am weekends.  DEADLINE FOR SCRATCHINGS 9.00am the day of the race meeting.  Scratchings that are faxed WILL NOT be accepted.

Kenneling & Kennels

There is a veterinary service at all race meetings. The kennel block is air-conditioned and the kennels are on one level.

Swabs

Wentworth Park follows GRNSW swabbing procedures and withholds prize money greater than $6000 when swabs are undertaken. Prize money is paid following clearance of swab.

Travel & Entry

Admission

Entry to Wentworth Park race meetings for Adults is $6.00. Children under 18 are free when accompanied by a responsible adult.

Parking

Parking is available adjacent to the grounds - entrance off Wentworth Park Road. Parking fee of $15 applies. (GOBTA members are admitted free to this area on production of current membership card).

If anyone who uses the car park feels anxious about leaving the track, the car park staff are available to escort them to their vehicles. Please approach the staff directly when you leave the track and they will  provide this service.

Trainers using this car park are asked to assist in the following matters:
1 Comply with directions of staff 
2 Park in the designated areas only
3 Clean up after your dog to ensure that droppings are not left in the area, so that other users of this public space are not inconvenienced.

NOTE: Council has indicated that Rangers will be employed from time to time to ensure compliance and fines are likely for offenders.

GBOTA also provides for race night trainers to park internally via Wattle Street gate. Parking fee GBOTA members $5, including admission of two people. For non-GBOTA members $10, including admission for two people.

Driving

Wentworth Park provides the following driving suggestions. No responsibility is taken for traffic or tolls en route. Please use GPS or other devices if concerned. 

From Sydney's West
There are two roads you can travel on:- 1) Parramatta Road - follow the road all the way to the city past Sydney University (on the right) and take the left-hand turn into Wattle Street (just past Broadway Shopping Centre). Turn left at the end of the street and first left into Wentworth Park Road. 2) Follow Victoria Road and stay on the left hand lane over ANZAC Bridge. Once over the bridge take the Fish Market Exit and turn right at the main set of traffic lights. Once past the Fish Markets (on the right) take the second left into Wentworth Park Road.

From Central and Northern Coasts
Follow the M1(F3) and take the City Exit. Follow the Pacific Highway to the Harbour Bridge. Once on the Harbour Bridge take the York Street Exit and turn left at King Street then right into George Street. George Street joins up with Broadway. Turn right on Broadway into Wattle Street and left at Wentworth Park Road.

From Southern Highlands and Southern Coasts
Follow General Holmes Drive which joins onto Southern Cross Drive. Keep left and use left-hand lane to link with South Dowling Street. Turn left into Cleveland Street then right into Abercrombie Street and left into Wentworth Park Road. 

Public Transport

Wentworth Park is only a 5 minute walk from the closest station (the Light Rail off Wattle Street towards the Fish Market). Taxi - if you are taking a taxi to the track ask to be dropped off at Wentworth Park Road (the main entrance)

Metro Light Rail Linking Central Station with Sydney's inner west (to Dulwich Hill) delivers you quickly and easily to Wentworth Park (next stop after Fish Market and stop before Glebe) with stops at Darling Harbour and The Star Casino along the way.
M - F  6.00 to 23.00 (24.00 Fri) at 10 -15 mins frequency. Sat 6.00 to 7.30 25 mins frequency 7.30 to 24.00 15 mins frequency. Sun 6.00 to 7.30 25 mins frequency 7.30 to 23.00 10 - 15 mins frequency.

The Wentworth Park stop is located adjacent to Wattle Street (which runs along the back of the race track) towards the Sydney Fish Markets only a short walk to the Wattle Street entrance

General Information

Feature Races 

Wentworth Park hosts 20 Group/Listed events each year, with a feature event every month except July. Wentworth Park's headline event is the Golden Easter Egg with a winner's purse of $250,00, making it the richest event in NSW.  Further details on each of the events can be found here.

Catering & Bar

Wentworth Park provides diverse choices within the venue. There is a snack bar with a comprehensive menu including gourmet pizza and coffee bar on the ground floor together with fully licensed bars. The bistro on the lower ground floor provides patrons the opportunity to order from an extensive menu, with meals cooked to order and delivered to your table. There are bar and tote betting facilities in the bistro.

For a more formal occasion we have our fully catered function centre located on the first floor of the complex – further details are available here.

Wagering

Up to three  bookmakers operate on Wednesdays and up to four on Saturday (including one operating on away meetings) with full TAB Totalisator services including an outlet in the bistro. Depending on demand, TAB Totalisator facilities will be provided for the level 1 function centre.

Any bookmaker offering odds against a greyhound shall be compelled to lay such odds if demanded by the taker, but so that the bookmaker shall not be compelled to lose more than $1500 on any one wager.

Smoking

Under NSW Health legislation, smoking is not permitted in spectator areas nor (from July 6, 2015) within 4 metres of any entrance to or exit from the licensed premised.  Please speak to staff on course about designated smoking areas.

Eftpos

Wentworth Park GBOTA has an EFTPOS service located on the Ground Floor in the grandstand. Inquire at the appropriately marked TOTE window.

Our GBOTA members are our biggest advocates and we kindly ask for all members to support greyhound racing at Wentworth Park by providing details of any corporates that may be interested in advertising or sponsoring races that have a national reach. Sponsorship rates at Wentworth Park are very competitive relative to similar markets.

Other  

There are no camping facilities for travelling trainers, nor are there kennels available for greyhounds.
