Nomination details

Nominations for Thursday meetings at Maitland close Monday prior at 9am. Unless otherwise advertised. Nominate with GRNSW: Fax: (02) 8580 5301 (24/7) Phone Nomination on 1300 664 565 between 8am and 9am Monday to Friday. You can also register Online to Nominate through the GRNSW website at www.thedogs.com.au.

Box Draw

The box draw is conducted by the GRNSW following close of nominations. Box draw is typically released Monday afternoons following grading and can be found on this website, under racing info tab, or alternatively at www.thedogs.com.au

For trainers wishing to access fields via the Telads service please call Call 1902 261 112 and follow the prompts.

Scratchings

Scratchings are taken by GRNSW on 1300 797 538. Phone between 8am and 9:00am daily. DEADLINE FOR SCRATCHINGS 9.00am the day of the race meeting. Scratchings that are faxed WILL NOT be accepted.

Kenneling & Kennels

There is a veterinary service available at all race meetings. The Kennel block is air-conditioned and the kennels are on one level.

Swabs

Maitland follow GRNSW swabbing procedures and withholds prizemoney greater than $5830 when swabs are undertaken. Prizemoney is paid following clearance of swab sample.

Trials

Race Day Trials

No trials held before race meetings. Trials will be held after the race meeting on a Thursday with field, maiden and solo trials available, tickets must be purchased prior to Race 9.

Non Race Day Trials

Monday Mornings - arm trials only, by appointment. 
Start at 10am - bookings required by 1.30pm Friday prior to Manager.

Friday Mornings
7.30 - 8.30am - tickets are on sale between 7.00-8.30am
4 dog field and solo trials available. 
8.30-10am
Arm Trials only. Bookings required by 5pm Thursday prior to Manager.

Saturday Mornings
7.30am start - tickets are on sale between 7-9am.
4 dog field and solo trials available. First two field trials over each distance will be for Maiden and Puppy greyhounds only. Proof of Maiden status must be produced (i.e: Registration or Naming papers).

Entry to Maitland race meetings for Adults $6.60 incl.GST concession $4.40 incl. GST. Children under 16 FREE

Parking is available onsite with ample parking around the kenneling area.

Driving

The NSW GBOTA provides the following driving suggestions. No responsability is taken for traffic or tolls enroute. Please use GPS or other devices if concerned. 

From Sydney / Cenral Coast 
Continue to the end of the F3 Freeway. At the end of the Freeway continue straight ahead (at Roundabout) exit marked F1 to Brisbane (Weakleys Drive). Take left off ramp onto New England Highway. Follow along New England Highway (becomes Newcastle Street) following signage to Maitland/Muswellbrook. Newcastle Street becomes Les Darcey Drive follow and turn right into ANZAC's St (Railway station on Right hand side). At the end of ANZAC's st turn right onto Blomfield and then left into Evans st to enter showground.  

From the North Coast
After crossing Hunter River at Hexham, turn right on New England Highway and follow through East Maitland. Turn left at ANZAC St. (Caravan Park on the corner), then follow perimeter of Showground to the Evans Street entrance.

From Muswellbrook/Tamworth
Follow New England Highway through Rutherford. At Maitland Railway Station roundabout take Newcastle Exit along Les Darcy Drive. Railway line is on the left. Take the second turn to the right into ANZAC St (Caravan Park on the corner), then follow the perimeter of Showground to the Evans Steer entrance.

Public Transport

Maitland Showground is located a 10 minute walk to the South Maitland (high street) train station. Service run between Newcastle and Dungog/Scone running through South Maitland. Timetables and further information are available from CityRail.


General Information

Feature Races 

Maitland conduct 3 feature races per year.

Maitland Gold Cup over 450metres, conducted in April and May (Final). Open to the best 64 greyhounds nominated plus reserves worth $30,000 to the winner and holds Group 2 status.

Maitland Gold Collar 400m Best greyhounds nominated with number of heats according to noms received, worth $4,000 to the winner, conducted typically in March or April.

Future Stars Maiden Series 400m (final during October). Open to all Maiden greyhounds worth $7,000.

Catering & Bar

Maitland GBOTA has a restaurant/canteen facilities serving hot meals and a fully licenced bar available for patrons on race nights.

Wagering

Maitland GBOTA has an oncourse NSW TAB outlet operating on local and away meetings at race meetings.

Any bookmaker offering odds against a greyhound shall be compelled to lay such odds if demanded by the taker, but so that the bookmaker shall not be compelled to lose more than $500 on any one wager.

Smoking

All enclosed areas are "SMOKE FREE ZONES". Smoking is allowed in open-air areas.

Eftpos

There is EFTPOS facilities available through the oncourse tote facilities at Maitland race meetings.

Other  

There limited camping facilities for travelling trainers, with no kennels available for the greyhounds.
 
There are also replays of all races, which are available to owners and trainers on course.
