The History of Group Racing.

Group Racing was originally conceived in 1990 as an initiative of the Australian Greyhound Racing Association (AGRA).

Between 1990 and 1995, AGRA applied criteria to all Australian feature events and AGRA member clubs promoted their Group events to varying degrees. However, there was no formal recording of the events defined as having Group status at this time.

In 1994, AGRA agreed to the appointment of a Group Racing Co-ordinator (Brenton Scott the current Executive Officer of the NSW GBOTA who still holds the Group Racing co-ordination position). As a result of Mr Scott's appointment, AGRA commenced the formal promotion of the “Group Racing format”.

Since 1995, the profile of Group Racing has steadily increased and today, Group Racing success is clearly accepted as the pinnacle of excellence in terms of elite greyhound racing performance.

For details of all AGRA Member Clubs, Group Races and relevant criteria visit the AGRA website at http://www.agra.com.au/ .
